We extend a warm welcome to Dr Johnathan Briody for joining the COLOSSUS team at the RCSI!
Dr Jonathan Briody completed a PhD in Health Economics at the School of Economics, University College Dublin as part of the SPHeRE national PhD programme for Population Health and Health Services Research (PHHSR), and with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. His research has been published in international academic journals and has received awards, including a recent fellowship at The Health Economic Research Center (CINCH) in Essen.
Working with Professor Kathleen Bennett, Associate Professor in Biostatistics in the Division of Population Health Sciences RCSI, Dr Briody will contribute to the economic evaluation of the cost-effectiveness of the COLOSSUS subtype classifiers across three European countries. A state transition (Markov) model will be developed to model the natural history of mCRC with Standard of Care (SOC) and the subsequent outcomes of PFS and OS, and Quality Adjusted Life Years (QALYs) used in evaluating the cost-effectiveness over the lifetime of the patient. Comparison will be made between sub-type classifier test vs no test scenarios (COLOSSUS, Angiopredict, CMS). Evidence from the literature and resources in the public domain will inform this model in combination with the COLOSSUS trial and VHIO proxy cohorts. Sensitivity analysis will be applied to reflect any uncertainty in the true values of model parameters. Similarly, to extrapolate survival curves beyond the end of the trial, parametric survival functions will be applied to the patient data over time.
