On the island of Ireland, what research is ongoing to help advance treatments for colorectal cancer? 

To celebrate Colon Cancer Awareness month, COLOSSUS will be hosting and managing a public event on 30 April 2019 at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin from 6:30- 7:30 PM.

Prof Annette Byrne, Head RCSI Precision Cancer Medicine Group & Coordinator of the EC funded multi-million Euro Colorectal Cancer Research Programme COLOSSUS will welcome attendees, chair the event, and introduce speakers.

Prof. Sandra Van Schaeybroeck from Queen’s University Belfast, the Coordinator of the MErCuRIC project: “Current treatment options and clinical research approaches”. Sandra will provide a clinicians point of view and discuss the personalized medicine approach to treating colorectal, or bowel cancer.

Dr Ian Miller, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland: “Tackling colorectal cancer challenges in the lab”. Ian will highlight some of the exciting colorectal cancer laboratory research which is currently ongoing within the RCSI Precision Cancer Medicine Group.

Dr Verena Murphy (Cancer Trials Ireland): “Colorectal cancer clinical and translational studies run by Cancer Trials Ireland”. Learn about clinical trials for colorectal cancer and the COLOSSUS translational study from Verena Murphy of Cancer Trials Ireland.

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions too! Refreshments will follow.
