COLOSSUS experts are often asked to provide their expertise on the topics under study as part of the larger project. To support real-world advancement from the bench to the bedside, COLOSSUS is embracing a robust analysis of the expected clinical effectiveness and the cost-effectiveness of its proposed personalised medicine approach for patients with mCRC. Dr Jonathan Briody is a health economist with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland-University of Medicine and Health Sciences (RCSI) modelling the cost-effectiveness of precision oncology in metastatic colorectal cancer with Professor Kathleen Bennet.

In September, Dr Briody was invited by one of the leading health economics centres in the UK, the Centre for Health Economics and Medicines Evaluation (CHEME), to provide a seminar on methodological topics relevant to economic evaluation in health and social care s part of the COLOSSUS project. On November 7th, 2022, Dr Briody discussed conducting a cost-effectiveness analysis in precision oncology and how he and Professor Bennet are building their own health economic model in the open-source programming language R.

The presentation was made to 20 team members at the CHEME (https://cheme.bangor.ac.uk/). CHEME aims to promote and sustain high-quality research and maximise opportunities for research grant capture and publications in high-impact journals. The Centre is active across a range of health economic and medicines evaluation research activities.
